But the real reason is the crowds, all the nice harbours of the Solent are going to be full. Above is Lymington quay on Saturday morning, despite the early start and the bad weather the boats were already rafted up 5 deep in places.
There's a mid day high water, so if the weather improves you might just see us rowing in the upper reaches of the Hamble to Botley while everyone heads out to sea.

Lovely blog, this. Your note about the crowds makes me think that retirement will one day have its benefits...only sailing mid-week, and never on holidays!

A row in the upper reaches of the Hamble is one of my very favourite rows...tell me when you are going and I might just tag along if that's OK. We could take a hamper fulla champers to the green at Botley.
ReplyDeleteThe tides not especially good this weekend and some good weather is foretold weather , but I guess you're off to Beale Pk?
ReplyDeleteI think so. Depends on the weather and motivation generally. Beale looks rather the same this year as any other. Are you going?
ReplyDeleteActually, I am definitely going to Beale. I had forgotten Alec Jordan will be showing off the St Ayles Skiff!
