Winter Views

A brief window of high pressure at the dead of winter, the moorings are empty apart from one lone yacht.

A few more boats on the pontoons, the few afloat are locked up, presumably too cold, too early in the year or too early in the morning for maintenance.

  1. I have read that both the late Maurice Griffiths and the late Charles Stock fulfilled a long held ambition and spent a Christmas day on board their respective boats. I am not sure whether or not they went sailing as well.
Is Winter sailing with the reasonable temperatures you are having at the moment a starter?

  2. Alden, the short answer is yes, avoiding the frequent gales there are some lovely winter days. We've been out on Boxing Day in the past, and a cruise over new year. Quite a few sailing clubs have Boxing Day dinghy races.
