My friend Malcolm bought a motorboat last year but what with one thing an another it wasn't until a cold February weekend that we went over to Port Solent to see her.
It's Italian, super stylish and while it would perhaps have been better to be aboard in the sunny Mediterranean, it is a lovely boat.
Erica and Joseph enjoying how the "other half live", will I ever get them back aboard a heeling and pitching yacht again?
Joseph spent a bit of time deliberating over the controls and how everything worked, needless to say everything is powered and the walnut dash looks like something out of a Bentley.
On balance we took that as a thumbs up, we're looking forward to a trip out when the weather warms up a bit.

No such thing as a bad boat... we all have preferences but I'd rather be in any boat than not, and that one sure looks nice and comfortable!
ReplyDeleteI used to have a powerboat. Hideously expensive things. The very definition of a hole in the water you throw money into. So much so I stopped enjoying using the thing. Probably the only vehicle I didn't regret selling.
ReplyDeleteWhat? No central heating? No heated driver's seat?
ReplyDeletePatrick, central heating, definitely, heated seats, possibly, remote controlled lighting intriguingly.
ReplyDeleteSteve and mark, to paraphrase "better a day on the water than, well pretty much anything."
I am not a fan of big power boats mainly because of the noise - I like the sound of wind on sails and the noise of the bow wave - but I agree, better on the water than off it.
ReplyDeleteOne form of power boat I do like is a boat with a steam engine - recently we went for a trip on the 'Ernslaw' an old steam powered ship that has done the tourist runs at Queenstown (South Island NZ) for over a century. The experience of a steam ship stonking along with a plume of smoke is - awesome!
Are you getting soft and old Max?
